Approach
Working across oils, acrylics, layered canvases, plaster, pigment and found materials, Sonia’s practice has evolved through decades of sustained continuous learning with artists and sculptors across India, Singapore and Europe, reinforcing a dialogue between surface, volume and tactility central to her work. Having begun exhibiting in 1988, her artistic journey unfolded alongside a long professional engagement with interior and spatial design, cultivating a deep sensitivity to material, surface, and scale. Returning fully to the studio in 2015, she allowed decades of lived experience and material fluency to shape her artistic expression. Sonia maintains an active international exhibition practice, with exhibits across India, Singapore, Sweden and other countries. Her work has been shown in galleries, art fairs, public venues, and in private and corporate collections worldwide.

Professional Formation
Sonia C. Adlakha’s artistic development has been shaped through extensive study and learning across multiple geographies. Her training includes art history and painting studies with Accademia d’Arte, Florence, grounding her practice within a classical European context. In India, she studied sculpture under Mr. Saroj Jain and painting under Satish Sharma at Triveni Kala Sangam - Delhi and with Prof. Vidya Bhushan at Chitrakala Parishad - Banglore, alongside guidance from many senior artists. Her work has been presented at prominent art fairs including Art Stage Singapore, the Affordable Art Fair Singapore and the India Art Festivals.
